In social media (WhatsApp, Facebook, Twiter etc) we do share, follow & post every day. Before processing all read the details carefully for what it asked for. Major data phishing scam links come with a tricky & catchy note like
- Win iPhone …

Whenever you try to process those link, must use browser secure mode to open the link. All web browser provides a private window for surfing, in Chrome it named as Incognito, Microsoft Edge ( Win 10 ) named as InPrivate Window, FireFox calls it Private Window etc

CHECK OUT URL SECURITY
Sometimes you may receive link looks like bit.ly/19BiSHW, tinyurl.com/2tx etc. these are referred to a short form of the main URL. It is using to keep the long trail URL in short for various reasons. Google also provides a service of link shortener but they announced to discontinue the service from March 2019.
The shorter link is not harmful always. As it hides the actual URL path so it is a good practice to open such links in secure browser mode to keep a safeguard.
Conclusion: Open short URL in private mode.
VALIDATE THE URL
Check whether the URL with HTTPS or HTTP only, an HTTPS link provides more security and authenticity to a web address. Let’s have some brief information’s about the URL properly to avoid data phishing.
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, a unique naming reference of web source commonly known as a web address or website address. A typical URL looks like http://www.example.com or http://www.example.com/index.html or http://www.example.com/demo/index.html or http://www.example.com/index.php or http://www.example.com/index.asp etc.
A URL mainly consists of two parts (A) Protocol (HTTP) & (B) Host Name (www.example.com).
A simple default method uses to communicate data between two computers over the internet, name as HTTP, https and ftp etc.
HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol):
Default standard protocol to transferring webpage data.
HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure):
A secure extension of HTTP to communicate data with encryption by using Transport Layer Security (TLS). The security certificate is a 3rd party product & need to be purchased separately from the issuing concern (Refer as CA or Certificate Authority) like GoDaddy, 1AND1 etc.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol):
A commonly used protocol by the webmaster to transfer files between client and server.
Host Name or Domain Name:
Commonly known as Website Name or Domain Name purchased from domain name service provider like Godaddy, 1And1 etc. A hostname may be displayed with or without the WWW (World Wide Web). The hostname has two parts Domain Name & TLD. Domain name reflects the company/institution name & TLD (Top Level Domain) usually refer the type of the company/institution like .com refer as commercial, .in as India, .uk as the United Kingdom, .org as Organization etc. and maintained by IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority).
A domain name also referred as root domain when it comes with a sub-domain, for example – demo.technotizia.com where ‘demo’ refers as a sub-domain & technotizia.com is root domain. Same way in technotizia.blogspot.com, ‘technotizia’ refers to a sub-domain of blogspot.com ( It is a google blogger root domain).
